Really New Japan Promo

I have found in my 11 years of teaching geography that many students are fascinated by Japan, North and South Korea. Whether it be K-pop, which many became familiar with with the hit “Gangnam Style”, the subway pushers on Tokyo’s subway system, or the tense relationship between North and South Korea, students always want to know more. This week’s chat will focus on these 3 nations. We will address their physical geography, their past history, their culture, and modern issues that they are dealing with today. The questions for this week’s chat are as follows:

Question 1: What topics do you address in your course pertaining to Japan, North Korea & South Korea?
Question 2: What parts of Japan and the Korea’s history do you teach and how do you teach it?
Question 3: What aspects of Japan and the Korea’s physical geography do you address and how?
Question 4: How do you address the tensions between North and South Korea?
Question 5: What aspects of Japanese and Korean culture do you highlight?
Question 6: What are you favorite lessons or resources for teaching about Japan and the Korean peninsula?

Some of my favorite resources for teaching these 3 nations are:
